For best results surface preparation is critical because the foil is so thin it shows any imperfection on any surface it’s placed on.Follow the simple steps below and the included instructions to get that NOS look.I would suggest doing a few test applications before doing your radio or control bezel since working with this thin foil can by tricky.
1.Fine sand surface smooth with 1000 grit or finer wet/dry sand paper
2.Polish surface with a plastic or any other fine polish until you get a shine
3.Cut a piece of foil a little larger than surface you need to cover and remove the adhesive backing
4.Place foil on surface (try to ovoid wrinkles in foil)
5.Apply pressure to the foil with your fingers wrapped with a fine polishing cloth to ovoid damaging the foil. Its important to really make sure the foil is firmly in place before moving onto the next step.
6.With a new razor blade remove excessive foil by cutting along the outside of the surface
7.Polish remaining chrome tape with a polishing compound (Mothers Mag Wheel Polish works best).This really makes the shine come out since the finish of the foil is sort of dull.You can smooth out any small wrinkles at this time also.
