The Boss 429 lug nut was unique in that it was a made of two parts. The outside of the original lug nut was made of thin stainless steel formed into the shape of a standard chrome lug nut then pressed over an extra deep lug nut. This reproduction was made from solid stainless steel machined to the same exterior specs as the original. Once installed they will look correct and not fall apart like the originals did. The small American manufacture who made these lug nuts admitted they could have made them just like the original but the retail price would have been $50 to $60 a lug nut not $22. Since I’m a purest just like most of you I would have liked them to make them just like the originals but this seems like a decent option considering they look the same installed and will hold up well.
