This unique black nylon clip holds the high-pressure hose coming out of the pump and the low-pressure hose coming back to the pump. It keeps the two-different sized hoses tightly together away from engine components that could rub a hole in the hoses. The larger opening is for the high-pressure hose and small opening is for the low-pressure.

Mounting location was critical so each hose had a paint code to indicate the location of the clip. Exact location of hose paint codes has not been documented except on a BOSS 429 high-pressure hose (see pictures). You can check your assembly manuals for an approximate location under the pump were the two hoses come together. Blue was used on the pressure hose and red on the low-pressure return hose. Make sure you consult the 1969 and 1970 Chassis Assembly Manual for further information.

Most of these clips were removed the first time anyone worked on their power steering and not put back on because this one-way clip is very hard to remove without breaking. Since this clip is usually missing on restored cars Judges love to get you on this detail if they cannot find anything else wrong with your car.
